Yamaha artist Michael McIntosh will head the Percussion Division at the MFA Summer Symposium, June 25-30, 2012 at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Leadership Weekend Experience is June 23-25 for interested students. Michael has a degree in Music Theory and Composition from Butler University. In addition to freelance composing and digital sound design, Michael is a designer/consultant for The Cavaliers and percussion specialist at Carmel High School, Carmel, Indiana.

At Music for All, students perform. We put you with a great faculty and give you opportunities to perform. Your week will be infused with hands-on, experiential learning with leading educators. Customize your schedule by choosing the elective sessions you want – Latin Percussion, Concert Percussion, Rudimental Drumming, drum set, Electronics, hand drumming and more. Clinics with top artists and worldclass drum corps create a well-rounded, unforgettable week.

• Marching percussion students are grouped by experience level for maximum learning.

• Concert percussion track students experience a wide variety of concert percussion, rather than assignments to perform with concert bands, allowing them to maximize their class time.

• Drum set students work with drum set faculty and Symposium Jazz Bands.

Each evening of the Symposium features a live concert or event by renowned performing groups showcasing an exciting range of genres. 2012 concerts and events include: Yamaha Young Performing Artists, Indianapolis Brass Choir, BWJO/Midcoast Swing Orchestra, Time for Three, and Drum Corps International Central Indiana featuring the Blue Stars, Carolina Crown, The Cavaliers, Glassmen, Madison Scouts, Spirit of Atlanta and Troopers.

MFA’s percussion camp faculty is full of all-stars in the drum and percussion world, including artists from our sponsors Yamaha Corporation of America, Remo and Vic Firth.
