The ALPAS is commited to the percussion community and the music education of students and citizens of the State of Alabama through the artistry of percussion.  We try to meet this mandate each year by the support and aid of percussion events throughout the state, the offering of percussion education wherever it is needed, and the annual Day of Percussion, along with smaller focus days presented by members of the chapter.

The Alabama chapter will present its 2011 Day of Percussion on the campus of Spain Park High School in Hoover, AL.  The event will be held on March 5, from 9:30 until 5:30.  The clinicians for the event include drumset virtuoso Zoro, marching percussion expert Bret Kuhn, The Alabama Symphony Orchestra Percussion Section, and Andy Kruspe and SlipJig presenting a Bodhran and Celtic Music clinic.  There will be performances by the percussion ensembles of Auburn University, the University of South Alabama, Prattville High School, Grissom High School and Opelika High School.
