What is the Percussive Arts Society?

The Percussive Arts Society is a worldwide organization founded and incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation in 1961.  Its purpose is educational, promoting through its activities a wide range of musical knowledge, encompassing the young percussion student, the teacher, and the performer.  Its mission is to facilitate communication among all areas of the percussive arts.  PAS accomplishes its goals through its 6 annual issues of Percussive Notes and 6 annual issues of Percussion News, its worldwide network of chapters, and its annual International Convention (PASIC).

Do I really need to join PAS to participate in AzPAS Festivals?

YES!  The registration forms specify that each ensemble must have a director, instructor or student that is a member of PAS.  Additionally, each solo performer must be a PAS member.  Realize that AzPAS is reliant on chapter benefits from the National PAS to fund our many activities.

Besides, for the low cost of membership you will have access to the greatest resource in Percussion education.  AZPAS directly benefits from your membership, and that allows us to continue to provide our members with the great festivals and high caliber clinicians that you have grown to expect from AZPAS.

Thanks for your consideration and support of our chapter.
