PERCUSSION GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIP
FOR: 2013-2014 Academic Year
AMOUNT: $10,000 a year, renewable for 2nd year upon review
DUTIES: Assistantships up to 20 hours/week work or teaching
Assignments-half in the percussion area and half in another related area (band, conducting, marching band). Duties include studio teaching,ensemble coaching, possible classroom teaching, large ensemblecoaching/conducting (drumline, percussion ensemble, Pandemonium steel band, applied freshmen, non-majors and minors)

The Department of Music:
Accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music. Chaired by
Dr. Lowell Graham, former USAF Director of Bands, Washington, D. C. Undergraduate and Graduate degrees in Music Education, Music Performance, Theory/Composition, Conducting, Commercial Music and Music Theatre. Over 350 undergraduate music majors involved in major performing ensembles including Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Ensembles,
and numerous chamber ensembles.
The UTEP Percussion Program
Professor of Music Larry White, 33 years at UTEP. Currently 24 majors and
30 students in Percussion Ensemble, Pandemonium, Pantastics, UTEP drumline, applied lessons, and Marimba Ensemble. UTEP Drumline winners 1989 Bands of America Marching Festival; participants PASIC Festivals (Nashville, 1996; Dallas, 2000). UTEP Percussion Ensemble participants in PAS
"Call for Tapes" in 2000 and 2002. Innumerable teaching and performing opportunities in the large El Paso metropolitan area including El Paso Symphony Orchestra, El Paso Opera, Pro-Musica, etc. Numerous"hands-on" opportunities with teaching applied and coaching drumline, percussion ensemble, etc. with over 40 high schools in metropolitan area.
