Qualifications: Doctorate in music required for tenure-track appointment. Candidates with significant progress toward the doctorate may be considered. The candidate will show evidence of successful high school and/or college marching band teaching experience. In addition, knowledge of current computer drill design software is required, as well as demonstrated success in recruiting and working collaboratively with public school band programs. Preference will be given to candidates with proven experience as a show designer and marching band teaching success.
Responsibilities: Assist the Director of Bands with the coordination of the athletic bands, including the 250 member Jaguar Marching Band and Jaguar pep bands. Direct other university instrumental ensembles, such as the USA Wind Ensemble and USA Symphony Band (majority music majors), as appropriate. In addition teach in other areas such as music education, instrumental methods, or applied music as appropriate. Depending on strengths of candidate, contribute to the scholarly advancement of the field through research and/or creative activities. Serve on departmental, college, and university committees as assigned. Assist with the recruitment and retention of quality music majors and undergraduate music students.
