Position: Assistant Professor of Percussion
The Department of Music of the University of Wyoming seeks an outstanding percussion educator and performer to join its music faculty. Applicants must have demonstrated experience performing regionally and nationally as a percussionist. Preference will be given to those who are accomplished on both classical instruments and on jazz drum set, and who have successful college teaching experience.
Rank: Assistant Professor of Music, full-time, tenure track
Salary: Dependent upon qualifications and experience
Qualifications: Doctorate in music required (must be completed by August 2018).
Teach percussion lessons, percussion methods for music education majors, percussion ensemble, and in the jazz area. Teach in a secondary area that may include music technology, music entrepreneurship, recording technology, or music industry (depending on the candidate’s experience). Recruit and maintain students for the percussion studio.
All studio faculty at UW are expected to establish and maintain a reputation as a high quality performer in the region, nationally, and internationally, and to participate in outreach activities and serve as a liaison with regional music educators. Faculty are expected to work cooperatively with colleagues and students, assume normal professional duties, such as creative activity, service, and student advising, and contribute to the intellectual and cultural life of the University.
