Where: Goucher College 1021 Dulaney Valley Road, Towson, MD 21204

Schedule:

9:15     Registration begins (no advance registration—just show up!)

9:30     Timpani FUNdamentals with Donna DiStefano (for beginning & intermediate students)

10:00   Drum Set FUNdamentals with Wes Crawford (for beginning & intermediate students)

10:45   Performance Spotlight featuring the percussion ensembles of Towson University, Centennial High School
     and Dunloggin Middle School. Repertoire to include Chavez’ Toccata, O’Meara’s Wooden Music,
and Nozny’s Sharps.

12:00   Chapter Meeting in main lobby (all members welcome)

Exhibit area open!

12:30   “Theatrical Music for Solo Percussion” with Dr. Lee Hinkle; performance and discussion by one of the leaders in this growing field of performance.

1:30     World Music: “Frame Drums and Rhythm Cycles” with N. Scott Robinson; explore the relationship between the verbal/physical aspects of time-keeping with drumming. 

2:30     “Piano transcriptions for Marimba” with Janis Potter; a “crash course” on selecting, transcribing and preparing transcriptions of piano works for marimba.

           

3:30     Drum set with Pat Petrillo: Pat’s performing credits include Patti LaBelle, Gloria Gaynor, A Chorus Line, Grease, Footloose, and Dreamgirls, and he is currently involved in the Nu Jazz project, “Goovallegiance” with Gary Grainger and Chieli Minucci. He teaches on the faculty of Drummers Collective in NYC.
