Competition Repertoire

Division I

High School Students

Snare Drum

Round 1: 

Student's Choice - please pick any solo snare drum piece or etude (marching or classical styles are both acceptable)

Round 2:

Student’s Choice – please pick any solo snare drum piece or etude (marching or classical styles are both acceptable)

**The winner will also perform the solo selection of their choice on the Soloist's Showcase Concert at 3:30 pm on the same day.**

Participants may play the same piece for both rounds. Competition Rules & Procedures

All participants must be registered members of the Percussive Arts Society (at a minimum Backstage Pass Level) and also must be currently enrolled in a High School or College music program in the state of Maryland or Delaware. Applicants must provide the name and contact information for their teacher or ensemble director at their respective school of enrollment for confirmation of current enrollment.

  3. Teacher or Ensemble Director’s name and contact information (email and phone number)

Cost for entry is $25 per participant.

Please make payments via PayPal directly to marylanddelawarepas@gmail.com and indicate which level you are applying for (Division I High School or Division II College) of the competition.

 
Pieces chosen may be in the classical or rudimental style. Participants may play on a marching snare drum if that is what you prefer, but you must provide your own drum. Participants may bring their own snare drum and stand if desired. A snare drum and stand will be provided in each of the audition rooms for those students who cannot provide their own snare drums and stands.

For All Applicants: Warm-up time will be provided on site at HCC in the Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center beginning at 9:30 am. Please check-in at the check-in desk in the main lobby area for directions and details beginning at 9:30 am. Signage will point contestants to the location of the check-in desk.

The winner of each division must be available to perform during the Soloist's Showcase Concert on the “Day of Percussion” (between 3:30 pm and 4:30 pm) and to receive their prizes. The winners must also be willing to have their pictures taken with their prizes for distribution with the affiliated sponsor companies’ press materials.
