Florida Atlantic University invites applicants for the position of Instructor of Percussion, beginning August 2017. The percussion instructor will teach applied percussion to undergraduate and graduate music students, percussion studio class, Concert Percussion Ensemble, Percussion Pedagogy and Methods for Music Education majors, and instruct the drumline of the FAU Marching Owls. Other courses may be assigned depending on the candidate’s area of expertise. At the non-tenure earning rank of Instructor, the successful candidate will manage and maintain the percussion studio and instruments, recruit and retain music majors in all degree tracks, and maintain an active profile as a performer and teacher in the community.
For this appointment, the minimum qualification is a master’s degree in music with three years of relevant teaching experience. Applicants should have video examples of percussion performances and samples of marching percussion arrangements ready to submit upon request.
